Washington, D.C. -- Working to help keep our communities safe and secure, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39) today joined Congressman Adam Schiff (CA-29) and other Members of the Democratic Caucus’ Safe Neighborhoods Task Force, in support of the "Safe Communities" amendment. This amendment would restore $1.3 billion for law enforcement programs which the Administration and House leadership cut in the FY 2005 budget. Congresswoman Linda Sánchez is an original sponsor of the amendment.

Paramount -- Working to educate and inform the community, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39) hosted an immigration forum in cooperation with KMEX-34 Univision, and the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Educational Fund (NALEO) at Progress Park in Paramount.
“Currently, there are a number of immigration bills and proposals being discussed in Congress. I hosted this forum to provide the most up-to-date information and answer questions on reforming our immigration system,” said Congresswoman Linda Sánchez.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Alliance for Retired Americans, a national organization representing three million retirees around the country, today released its annual Congressional Voting Record, which rates Members of Congress on key votes to protect Medicare and Social Security and reflects their commitment to older Americans.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV), a national bipartisan organization devoted to educating citizens about the environmental voting records of federally elected officials, this week released their annual Congressional Scorecard for the first session of the 108th Congress. The LCV has published a National Environmental Scorecard every Congress since 1970, the year it was founded by leaders of the environmental movement following the first Earth Day.

Paramount - Working to bring more opportunities and resources to the City of Paramount, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39) met with Mayor Gene Daniels, Vice Mayor Manuel E. Guillen, and City Manager Patrick West to discuss the city’s projects for the upcoming year. Each year, Congresswoman Sánchez meets with the mayors from every city in the 39th District to determine ways the federal government can be helpful.

La Mirada - Working to ensure our veterans receive the recognition and honor they so deserve, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez presented service medals to Richard Alvarez and Richard Mariot, at the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 9148 in La Mirada on Friday night. Both men served our country in the Vietnam War and now reside in the city of Whittier.

Paramount - Working to bring educational opportunities and resources to the City of Paramount, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39) secured 0,000 in the FY 2003 Omnibus Appropriations Bill to fund two Paramount Educational Partnership (PEP) Community Resource Centers. On January 31st, Sánchez attended the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of the first facility.

Lakewood - Congresswoman Linda Sánchez awarded the Congressional Silver Medal for Volunteer Public Service, to Lakewood student Theresa Deister. Congress established the Congressional Awards program in 1979 to recognize initiative, achievement and service in young people. Sánchez hosted an awards ceremony at the district office, attended by Deister, her family, and volunteer organization leaders.
