The First Focus Campaign for Children—an organization that works to ensure that the needs of children and families are a priority in federal budget decisions—also named Congresswoman Sánchez a “Champion for Children” in 2010.

Through a series of grants, the Veterans Jobs Corps initiative would train and put veterans to work on local projects and place them in positions that utilize the skills they developed in the military.

"The December jobs report is a very encouraging sign that the economy isimproving. However, there is much morework that needs to be done to bring down an unacceptably high unemploymentrate.
