Linda Sánchez Supports Safe Healthcare for Women (May 31, 2012)

Washington, DC- Congresswoman Linda Sánchez releasedthe following statement today after opposing H.R. 3541, the PrenatalNondiscrimation Act, which jeopardizes a woman's right to safe and legal healthcare services.

"This misguided bill not only infringes on a woman'sright to choose, but it increases the health disparities that already existamong minority women, erodes the trust that exists between a woman and herdoctor, and denies women quality access to healthcare. This bill doesnothing to curb discrimination based on race and gender, but rather, imposesadditional barriers for women who want to make informed decisions about theirhealth and criminalizes the doctors who provide care to them."
