Washington, DC - Working to contribute to the cultural and economic revitalization of downtown Long Beach, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39) announced that she has secured $75,000 in the Fiscal Year 2004 VA-HUD Appropriations bill for the Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA). This bill is expected to pass the House of Representatives shortly.

Washington, DC -- Working to help with overhaul of Whittier’s underground sewer system, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39) today announced that she has secured $400,000 in the Fiscal Year 2004 Department of Veteran Affairs, Housing and Urban Development, and Independent Agencies Appropriations bill. The bill is expected to be passed on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives in the near future.

Washington, DC -- Working to promote public safety, ensure communities have the resources necessary to fight crime, and to give local law enforcement the best tools possible, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39) has secured a commitment to fund a major technology modernization of the Lakewood Sheriff Station. Sánchez got the project included in the Commerce, Justice, State Fiscal Year 2004 Appropriations bill, which passed the House Appropriations Committee this week, and is expected to be passed by the U.S. House of Representatives shortly.

The bill is expected to be passed by the U.S. House of Representatives shortly.

Washington, DC - Working to fight the injustice along the United States borders, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39) joined Representative Sheila Jackson-Lee (TX-18) and members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus in announcing a critical piece of legislation, The Commercial Alien Smuggling Elimination Act of 2003: The CASE Act (HR-2630) in a press conference on Wednesday July 16 on Capitol Hill.

As an original co-sponsor of this bill, Congresswoman Sánchez recognizes the serious problems that commercial alien smuggling creates.

Whittier -- Working to promote community public safety, and the safety of Whittier law enforcement officers, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (39-CA) today announced that the Whittier Police Department will receive $9,559 from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bulletproof Vest Partnership Program. The partnership program provides up to 50% of funding for the purchase of bulletproof vests.

Congresswoman Sánchez is a sponsor of legislation that provides funding for the Federal Bulletproof Vest Program.

South Gate -- Working to promote community public safety, and the safety of South Gate law enforcement officers, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (39-CA) today announced that the South Gate Police Department will receive $6,146 from the U.S. Department of Justice Bulletproof Vest Partnership Program. The partnership program provides up to 50% funding for the purchase of bulletproof vests.

Congresswoman Sánchez is a sponsor of legislation that provides funding for the Federal Bulletproof Vest Grant Program.

Washington, DC - Working to increase the supply of clean drinking water for Southern California, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39) today secured $600,000 to fund a study of the Los Angeles Basin Watershed. The study is designed to explore ways to capture rain water runoff in L.A. and Orange Counties to increase the supply of clean drinking water, reduce ocean pollution, and improve neighborhoods, mini-parks, and habitat areas.

Washington, DC - On Thursday June 10th, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39) sported the Dodger blues during the 42nd Annual Congressional Baseball Game. Each year, Democrat and Republican Members of Congress play against each other in a game that benefits charity. Congresswoman Sánchez was the only woman to join the Democratic team.

Sánchez had one at bat, in which she hit the ball sharply to the shortstop. She sped up the line and charged towards the first base bag, only to be narrowly thrown out by a half -stride.
