Washington, DC- Congresswoman Linda Sánchez released the following statement today after the U.S. Senate passed legislation that increases the penalties for those who traffic counterfeit drugs. S. 3187, the Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act, includes language similar to that of H.R. 3668, the Counterfeit Drug Penalty Enhancement Act of 2011, which was introduced by Congresswoman Sánchez in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39) released the following statement today regarding H.R. 4970, a Republican bill to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act, which would roll back critical protections for America's women.

"This Republican bill dangerously leaves victims of domestic violence worse off than they are under current law. We should do everything we can to protect victims of domestic violence, and this bill does the opposite.
