Lynwood - Working to attract new businesses and jobs to Lynwood, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39) today hailed the awarding of a $948,100 federal grant to the non-profit Economic Resource Corporation business park in Lynwood. The funds will go towards the installation of a state-of-the-art, broadband computer network. The funding will be administered through the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA).

LYNWOOD - Working to provide children and parents with the resources to keep their schools safe and productive, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez hosted a Back to School Fair in Lynwood. Held at the City Park, the fair offered an opportunity for parents to receive important information that they can use to help children stay safe in school and make healthy choices in life.

Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39), along with eleven other members of Congress, commissioned a study on the effects of the so-called “Disabled Veterans Tax” which was released today. The report, titled “The Disabled Veterans Tax Impacts Thousands of Veterans in the Los Angeles Area,” found that disabled veterans in California lose $277 million dollars in benefits annually due to this tax.

“This is wrong and we must do something to fix the problem. Disabled veterans should be supported and not penalized for their service to our country,” said Congresswoman Linda Sánchez.

Washington, DC - Today, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39) recognized the Long Beach Unified School District’s for its America’s Best Urban School System award. Washington, DC - Today, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39) highlighted the County Fresh Market in Whittier, California as an example of a successful small business at the U.S. House of Representatives Small Business Committee Hearing on “National Small Business Week: Small Business Success Stories.” Below are her remarks:



Good Afternoon. I would like to commend the Small Business Committee for holding a hearing to recognize the immeasurable contribution of small businesses to our economy and our communities.

On September 11, the world watched in horror as nearly 3,000 Americans lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and on Flight 93, that crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Lakewood  On Wednesday, August 27th, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA 39) welcomed area seniors to her first annual Senior Health and Information Fair held at the Lakewood Center Mall. Lakewood Mayor Joe Esquivel and Lakewood Mall General Manager Charlie Hallums joined Congresswoman Sanchez in welcoming seniors to the event.

“I organized a Senior Health and Information Fair because I wanted to make sure the seniors I represent have access to important information and services that can keep them safe and healthy,” said Congresswoman Linda Sánchez.
