WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Linda Sánchez today announced that the Democratic Caucus Steering Committee has appointed her to serve on the U.S. House Judiciary Committee. With this appointment, Sánchez becomes the first Latina to ever serve on the Judiciary Committee in the history of the House of Representatives. Additionally, she will be the only Latino and the only freshman member serving on the Committee in the 108th Congress.

Linda Sánchez, who was elected to House of Representatives this past November, was sworn into office for the 108th Congress on January 7. Sánchez will represent the newly created 39th congressional district which includes the cities of Long Beach, Whitter, Paramount, Cerritos, and Lakewood.

Congresswoman Linda Sánchez was sworn in with her sister Representative Loretta Sanchez (D-Orange County). The two made history this past November as the first sisters ever elected to the United States Congress.
