Linda Sánchez Statement on Benghazi Committee Hearing

October 22, 2015
Press Release

Washington, DC- Rep. Linda T. Sánchez (CA-38), a member of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, today issued the following statement after the hearing with Secretary Clinton:

“It is unfortunate that after 10 hours of clear and definitive testimony from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, this committee has not uncovered anything that has changed the essential facts that we already know. The families of Ambassador Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods deserved better. The American people deserved better.

“Instead of a serious discussion about the events surrounding the tragedy in Benghazi, Republicans on the committee attempted to weave a narrative to fit their own political motivation. Over and over, they asked the same questions that have already been answered in nine previous reports.

“After today’s hearing, it should be abundantly clear to every American that this committee is obsessed with chasing unfounded conspiracy theories and not interested in the truth. It’s time for Congress to put an end to this sham politically motived investigation.”
