Sánchez sworn in for 119th Congress

January 3, 2025

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez was sworn in today as the representative for California's 38th congressional district in the 119th Congress. This marks her twelfth term serving the people of Southern California.

"Serving the people of Southern California is both an honor and a profound responsibility," said Congresswoman Sánchez. "I remain focused on bringing down costs for hardworking families, prioritizing more affordable housing and creating economic opportunities for everyone in our community. As we begin this new Congress, my dedication to progress and fairness remains unchanged. I’m committed to holding the Republican trifecta accountable and will keep fighting for the needs and values of everyday people over powerful partisan interests."
In the 119th Congress, Congresswoman Sánchez will prioritize working families and small businesses in her district. She will continue efforts to put people over politics, lower costs for families, create better paying jobs, combat climate change, make our communities safer and improve our nation's tax code so that it’s fair for all, not just the rich and powerful.

Congresswoman Sánchez will also remain focused on passing meaningful immigration reform. Despite the incoming Trump administration and the Republican congressional majority’s extreme far-right immigration agenda, she will keep fighting to protect Dreamers and other immigrants and prevent families from being torn apart.

She will continue to serve as a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee. She will also continue to serve in key leadership positions, including as the Democratic Chief Deputy Whip, on the Steering and Policy Committee, and in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, the Labor Caucus and the LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus, and as a member of the Democratic Women's Caucus.

Above all, constituent services will remain the cornerstone of Congresswoman Sánchez's work. The congresswoman's staff in Washington, D.C. and Whittier, Calif. remain committed to supporting the needs of constituents and the community.

Constituents who need help with federal issues – such as Social Security, Medicare and Veterans Affairs benefits – as well as other constituent services should contact the Whittier office at (562) 860-5050 or online here.
