Sánchez statement against House passage of H.R. 7024

January 31, 2024

WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez (CA-38) issued the following statement regarding her “NO” vote on H.R. 7024, the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act:

“This tax deal leaves way too many working- and middle-class households behind.

“Tax-writing Democrats fought hard to improve the bill with a much more generous version of the poverty-busting Child Tax Credit (CTC), but our Republican colleagues refused to consider rebalancing our nation’s tax code with an eye for fairness and prosperity for American businesses and families.

“As a mother, today I followed my conscience and voted against this legislation. I will never stop fighting for more federal investment in our nation’s poorest babies, children, and families. America's working families deserve much, much more.”
