Sánchez statement against House passage of FY24 NDAA

July 14, 2023

WASHINGTON – Today,Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez (CA-38), issued the following statement regarding her “NO” vote on H.R. 2670, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024:

“The National Defense Authorization Act has historically helped ensure our armed forces have the resources they need to keep us safe, and that military families have access to the benefits they have earned and deserve. It has also historically been passed on a strong bipartisan basis.

“Unfortunately, MAGA Republicans hijacked this year’s NDAA and attached extreme amendments that made the bill something I could not support. They turned a good and necessary piece of legislation into a bill that is anti-woman, anti-health, anti-diversity, and anti-LGBTQI+.

“In the 118th Congress, the Republican playbook has been to take legislation meant to help the American people and saturate it with a radical MAGA agenda. I voted against this legislation and will continue to hold Republicans accountable for playing political games at the expense of the American people, their safety, security, and well-being.”
