Sánchez: SCOTUS flung open doors to Trump’s xenophobic agenda
WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez (D-Calif.) released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s decision on birthright citizenship for U.S.-born children:
“The Supreme Court dangerously flung open the doors to President Trump’s xenophobic agenda, effectively allowing him to deny citizenship to millions of U.S.-born babies he alone deems not American.
“Equally alarming is the fact that the conservative justices stripped away federal judges’ ability to block unlawful actions by this president. This reckless abdication of judicial oversight sets a terrifying precedent and erodes another vital check on President Trump.
“The 14th Amendment is clear: anyone born in the United States is a citizen. This fight is far from over.”
