Sánchez delivers $300,000 to City of Montebello to improve license plate readers

April 30, 2024

WASHINGTON On Thursday, Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez (D-CA) delivered $300,000 in federal funding she secured to the City of Montebello through the Consolidated Appropriations Act, which was signed by President Biden in March.

The funding is for the Montebello Police Department to purchase new license plate and geographic data mapping software to enhance its enforcement and investigation capabilities, expand its collection of relevant data, and expedite the tedious and time-consuming process of comparing vehicle license plates with lists of stolen, wanted and other vehicles of interest.

“I want our local police departments to have all the tools necessary to keep our communities safe,” said Congresswoman Sánchez. “This funding will allow the Montebello Police Department to upgrade its license plate readers to more swiftly and efficiently track down stolen vehicles or vehicles of interest, including finding missing or lost persons.”
