March 27, 2024

WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez (D-CA) delivered $2 million to the City of Walnut in funding she secured as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act.

The federal funding will be used to update the Walnut Gymnasium and Teen Center by replacing all original HVAC units, skylights, and resurfacing all lower roofs, flooring, paint, and furniture throughout the facility.

The Consolidated Appropriations Act was signed by President Biden earlier this month and included funding for community projects Congresswoman Sánchez advanced in response to requests from residents, organizations, and local partners across California’s 38th Congressional District. In total, Congresswoman Sánchez secured over $12,700,000 for all 15 requested community projects in her district.

“These funds will kick off some much-needed renovations to the gym and teen center,” said Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez. “Spaces such as these not only provide physical health benefits but also serve as a social hub for the youth in our community. I strongly believe by investing in these facilities, we are investing and empowering our youth.”
