Press Release

WASHINGTON— Today, Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez issued the following statement on the Inauguration of President Joseph R. Biden and Vice President Kamala D. Harris:

“On behalf of California’s 38th District, I congratulate President Joseph R. Biden and Vice President Kamala D. Harris on today’s historic inauguration. Today, we turn the page to a brighter day in our nation’s history. Together, we will begin our mandate to build back better.

“For Californians, this election means so much. Today we will watch as a fellow Californian – and the first woman and woman of color – is sworn into office as Vice President of the United States. More sobering is the reality that this election comes in the middle of a pandemic that has taken far too many of our friends and loved ones – so many in just the last few months. While the path to recovery in our District is long, I am hopeful today knowing this administration has our well-being in mind – from getting this vaccine into our communities to rebuilding an economy that actually works for the people who work in it.

“I look forward to working with this administration on addressing some of the most serious issues impacting our communities today – from fixing our immigration system, to finally delivering on racial justice, to restoring faith in our institutions at home and abroad. We have our work cut out for us, but I am confident in the leadership we celebrate today. I know that together we will build back a country that represents and cares for every single person who calls it home.

“To the President and Vice President: Congratulations, thank you, and let’s get to work.”
