Sánchez Statement on Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez (CA-38), a member of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, today released the following statement in recognition of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month:
"Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have a rich history here in Southern California," said Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez. "I'm proud to celebrate the heritage and cultures of our AAPI neighbors, many of whom have deep roots in our community and contribute so much to America's success."
Congresswoman Sánchez continued: "At the same time, we continue to see a disturbing rise in anti-Asian hate crimes, especially regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. We must put an end to this violence. As a proud member of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, I am working with my colleagues to stop Asian hate and ensure everyone can feel safe and protected in our communities."
Tuesday, May 3rd is also Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Equal Pay Day. Congresswoman Sánchez has long fought to close the gender wage gap and posted the following tweet in support of the day.
