The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022 —passed by Congress and signed into law by President Joe Biden in March – included much-needed investments to lower the cost of living for working families, create good-paying jobs, and address issues we face at home and abroad.
For the first time in over a decade, the package also included funding for Member-specific community projects. Congresswoman Sánchez secured funding for nine community projects requested by community partners in the 38th Congressional District.
"Constitution Park is in the heart of Bellflower and has the potential to be an inviting shared space for the entire community," said Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez. "It just needs play equipment, sports courts, and a few other amenities. This funding would be used to bring all that and more to Constitution Park."
The funding Congresswoman Sánchez secured will be used to add recreational components and amenities back to Constitution Park for the neighborhood to enjoy.
In addition to this project, Congresswoman Sánchez delivered funding for the following community projects (listed in alphabetical order):
$200,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Whittier
$475,000 for the City of La Mirada
$2 million for the City of La Palma
$1.72 million for the City of Norwalk
$2.5 million for the City of Pico Rivera's PFAS Groundwater Treatment Project
$1.5 million for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works
$450,000 for the City of Whittier's Central Library Remodel and Improvement Project
$500,000 for The Whole Child's Mental Health and Housing Services Project
Congresswoman Sánchez continued: "As your Representative in Congress, it is my honor to fight for you every day. That includes fighting for the resources needed to complete the projects in your neighborhood that are important to you. I was proud to request, fight for, and deliver these nine projects that total nearly $10 million in funding for Southern California."
