Sánchez celebrates Women’s History Month
WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez (D-CA) released the following statement in recognition of Women's History Month:
"This month, we celebrate the achievements and contributions of countless trailblazing women—in California and across the country—who have fought to build a brighter and better future for us all.
"We have more women serving in Congress than ever before. There are now four women on the United States Supreme Court, and we finally have a woman in the White House. At the same time, there is still much work to be done to make sure women are treated fairly and equally. We need to pass the Women's Health Protection Act to enshrine the right to choose under federal law and prevent further attacks on our reproductive rights. We must keep fighting to end workplace discrimination and ensure women are paid the same as their male counterparts. Finally, we need to enact universal paid family leave and ease the burden on caregivers—often women—who sacrifice so much for their loved ones.
"This month and every month, we remember the women who dedicated their lives and careers to fight for equality and justice. We honor them by continuing the fight until we can deliver equal opportunity for women everywhere."
