In his address to Congress, President Biden highlighted how the Administration and House Democrats have delivered for families over the last two years. The President also laid out his vision on the work still needed to bring down costs, create good-paying jobs, fix our immigration system, protect our national security, and rebuild our economy.
"President Biden set forth a clear goal for us tonight: let's finish the job. In the 117th Congress we made strides to reduce costs, bring good-paying jobs back home, revitalize our infrastructure, tackle the climate crisis, help small businesses succeed, and rebuild our economy from the middle out. But our work is far from over." said Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez. "As we enter a new year and a new Congress, I am committed to building on the progress we've made and am ready to work with both sides of the aisle to finally deliver on our nation's most pressing issues – from delivering on immigration reform to making sure the tax code is fair for working families."
Congresswoman Sánchez continued: "I am also honored to be joined tonight by Diamond Bar Mayor Andrew Chou. Mayor Chou exemplifies the progress we have made and the work we will continue to do to make our communities even better places to live and work. It was my pleasure to have him as my guest for the President's State of the Union Address."
"I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to Congresswoman Linda Sánchez for the invitation to attend President Biden's State of the Union address. It was an honor to be in the presence of our nation's leaders and to witness the President's vision for the future," said Diamond Bar Mayor Andrew Chou. "I am grateful for the opportunity to represent our city and to work with Congresswoman Sánchez to bring positive change to our communities. Thank you again for your thoughtfulness and leadership."
Earlier in the day, Congresswoman Sánchez and Mayor Chou attended a reception together honoring the victims of the mass shooting in Monterey Park, CA. Among those in attendance was Brandon Tsay, who bravely disarmed the shooter and saved countless lives that day.
Congresswoman Sánchez and Mayor Chou also attended a reception hosted by Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries before going to the House floor to listen to the President's address.
