Sánchez applauds tentative agreement to protect rail workers and our economy

September 15, 2022

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez (D-CA), co-chair of the Congressional Labor Caucus, today released the following statement after President Biden and Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh announced a tentative agreement between railroad unions and major rail companies:

"Today's announcement that railway unions and rail companies have come to a tentative agreement is welcome news. Workers across the county – no matter their employer or occupation – deserve respect in the workplace, safe working conditions, fair pay, benefits and sick time, and the right to have their voices heard at the negotiating table," said Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez. "This agreement is a major step in securing those rights for our railway workers and it will prevent large-scale disruptions to our supply chains and economy."

"I applaud both parties on this agreement, and I thank President Biden, Secretary Walsh, and Deputy Secretary Su for their unwavering commitment to unions and to the workers who keep our economy moving every day."
