Rep. Sánchez Pushes for More Buildings to Go Green
Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Linda T. Sánchez (CA-38) joined Select Revenue Subcommittee Chairman Mike Thompson (CA-05) and House Ways and Means Committee Democrats to release draft legislation, the Growing Renewable Energy and Efficiency Now (GREEN) Act, to address the climate crisis using one of the most powerful tools available: our nation’s tax code. The package includes Congresswoman Sánchez’s Mechanical Insulation Installation Incentive Act, which incentivizes the skilled-labor installation of mechanical insulation in buildings to make them more energy-efficient.
“Americans are already reeling from the cost of our collective inaction when it comes to climate change,” said Congresswoman Sánchez. “Mechanical insulation saves energy. My bill would provide employers with a tax credit for the skilled labor needed to install mechanical insulation. This would mean more manufacturing facilities, office buildings, schools, hospitals, and hotels saving energy while spurring the creation of good-paying jobs in communities across the country.”
