January 3, 2021

WASHINGTON— Today, Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez was sworn in as the representative for California's 38th Congressional District in the 117th Congress. This marks her tenth term serving the people of Los Angeles and Orange Counties in Southern California.

"Representing the people of California's 38th District is an incredible privilege, and an immense responsibility," said Congresswoman Sanchez. "I have devoted my career to helping working people get ahead: advocating for our families, improving our education systems, and bringing jobs to our district. As we begin a new Congress, I am more committed than ever to keep fighting."

In the 117th Congress, Sánchez will prioritize working to get much-needed relief to working families, small businesses, and those experiencing extreme hardship in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and economic downturn. Additionally, Congresswoman Sánchez will remain focused on finding legislative solutions to our country's caregiving crisis. She will also concentrate efforts on improving our nation's infrastructure, as well as other legislative priorities important to her community.

The Congresswoman will continue to serve as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee. She will also continue to serve in leadership positions, including in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and Labor Caucus, and as a member of the Democratic Women's Caucus.

Above all, constituent services remain the cornerstone of Congresswoman Sánchez's work. In these difficult times amidst a pandemic, the Congresswoman's staff in Washington, D.C. and Norwalk, CA remain committed to supporting the needs of constituents and our community.

Constituents who need help with federal issues – such as Social Security, Medicare, and Veterans Affairs – as well as other constituent services should contact the District Office at (562) 429-8499 or online here.

Congresswoman Sánchez was re-elected in a landslide victory in November 2020. She was first elected to the United States Congress in 2002. A former labor lawyer, she has been consistently recognized as a champion of working families. During her tenure in Congress, Sánchez became the first Latina to serve on the House Judiciary Committee and the House Ways & Means Committee, and the first Latina to serve in leadership.

A native of Orange, California, Congresswoman Sánchez holds a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
