Linda Sánchez Statement on Second Inauguration of President Obama (Jan. 21, 2013)

January 21, 2013
Press Release

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-38) released the following statement today after President Barack Obama was sworn in for his second term:

“Today, President Barack Obama put forward a renewed vision of hope that, as a nation, our highest aspirations can become realities if we work together. Watching President Obama take his second oath of office today was also a chance to reflect on the challenges our nation has seen the past four years and to recognize the progress we have made towards strengthening our economy and increasing our national security.

“We have made significant progress the past four years, but there is much more work to be done to ensure that the promise of the American Dream is secure for generations to come.

“The immediate challenges we face now are steep—getting more Americans back to work, fixing our broken immigration system that builds on our country’s great tradition of diversity, and passing sensible gun violence legislation to make our communities and schools safer.  I believe that we can rise to meet our challenges—if we are united in common purpose as one nation and as one people.  I look forward to joining with President Obama in getting to work to find the solutions the American people deserve.”
