January 29, 2013

Cerritos,CA – Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-38) released thefollowing statement after President Obama announced his vision forcomprehensive immigration reform during a speech in Las Vegas today:

"Iapplaud President Obama for taking the case for comprehensive immigrationreform directly to the American people today. Not only is our immigrationsystem broken, but our immigration policy fails to build on our country's greattradition of diversity, equality and fairness. It is hugely important thatPresident Obama is making this important issue his top legislative priority. Now it's time for Congress to act.

"Wecan't wait to find a way to bring more than 11 million undocumented people outof the shadows and on the path to earned legalization, and I am encouraged byrecent bipartisan efforts in the House and the Senate to develop frameworks forreform. I believe we can truly achieve meaningful immigration reform ifmembers of Congress work together. "
