Linda Sánchez Meets with President Obama on Immigration Reform (January 25, 2013)

Washington, DCCongresswomanLinda Sánchez (CA-38) released thefollowing statement after she joined Congressional Hispanic Caucus leaders atthe White House today to discuss comprehensive immigration reform withPresident Obama:

"Today'smeeting is a very positive step as we work towards achieving comprehensiveimmigration reform. I applaud President Obama for making immigration reform atop priority in his second term, and I am pleased that he is making theCongressional Hispanic Caucus an integral part in finding common sense solutionsto our broken immigration system.

"Ourcountry was built on a great tradition of diversity that allows everyone theopportunity for success. We should allow those people, who work hard and abideby our laws, the opportunity to educate themselves and help our great nationprosper and grow.

"Iremain hopeful that my colleagues in Congress can do the right thing and worktogether to produce legislation that secures our borders, reunites brokenfamilies and humanely treats the more than 11 million individuals who wantnothing more than achieve the American Dream.

"Wecan no longer postpone action on this important issue. The time to act oncomprehensive immigration reform is now. I look forward to working withPresident Obama and my colleagues in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus to makereform a reality."
