Linda Sánchez Joins Democrats to Introduce H.R. 6, The Dream and Promise Act
Washington, DC – Representative Linda Sánchez (CA-38), Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Immigration Task Force, joined with Reps. Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40), Nydia Velasquez (NY-07), and Yvette Clarke (NY-09) to introduce H.R. 6, Dream and Promise Act, which includes protections for Dreamers, as well as Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) recipients.
“What has made our country the shining beacon of hope around the world is our generosity and our compassion for those who seek a better life in America. Donald Trump’s administration has reversed of decades of U.S. humanitarian and immigration policy. America once opened its doors to these immigrants escaping harm in their home countries, and today we slam the door in their faces.
“The Dream and Promise Act is an important step to addressing our nation’s broken immigration system. Instead of sending these intelligent, hard-working Dreamers back to countries they barely even know, we are giving them an opportunity to continue contributing here in America by providing them with a pathway to citizenship. Through the Temporary Protected Status and the Deferred Enforced Departure programs, the United States has lived up to its role as a humanitarian leader in our hemisphere. TPS and DED have helped hundreds of thousands of immigrant families fleeing from some of the world’s most dangerous countries.”
