Linda Sánchez: "GOP plan to unravel DACA & executive action is inhumane”

January 9, 2015

Washington, DC- Rep. Linda Sánchez (CA-38), Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, released the following statement today after press reports indicated House Republicans will introduce a bill next week that ties funding for the Department of Homeland Security to plans to roll back President Obama's executive action on immigration and his 2012 protections for young undocumented immigrants:

"The GOP's plan to unravel deferred action for childhood arrivals and executive action on immigration is inhumane. It is nothing more than a ploy to appease extremists in their party and includes no good-faith effort to improve our broken immigration system.

Their plan also undermines our national security at a time when we should ensure our agencies have the necessary funding to prevent attacks like the ones that unfolded in France this week.

Democrats will continue to push for sensible comprehensive immigration reform and stand ready to defend President Obama's policies which prioritize criminals for removal and keep families together."
