Linda Sánchez Commemorates Armenian Remembrance Day (April 24, 2012)

Washington, DC- Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39)released the following statement today in recognition of Armenian RemembranceDay:

"Today, wesolemnly mark the 97th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide by remembering the1.5 million Armenians who were murdered in the waning years of the OttomanEmpire. I hope that acknowledging this atrocity will help heal the paincaused by the horrendous events in 1915.

"As a proud co-sponsor of H. Res. 304 which calls on thePresident to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide, I believe it isincredibly important to acknowledge the atrocities. It is my sincere hopethat this recognition will helpthe Turkish and Armenian governments foster a peaceful, mutually beneficialrelationship. I would like to express my sympathy to alldescendants of Armenian Genocide victims and hope we can all take time toreflect on this solemn day."
