Washington, DCU.S. Representative Linda Sánchez (CA-38) today released the following statement calling Attorney General William Barr to resign:

"The Attorney General of the United States has irreparably damaged his credibility and he is no longer fit to serve as America's chief law enforcement officer. Attorney General William Barr must resign because he has repeatedly demonstrated he will not objectively apply the law when it comes to the President of the United States. It's clear that the Attorney General's actions put the president's interests ahead of protecting the impartiality of the Department of Justice and upholding our Constitution.

"Mr. Barr's actions related to the Mueller report, his testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee, and his refusal to attend a House Judiciary Committee hearing have turned the Department of Justice into part of President Trump's legal defense team. He continues to shield President Trump by lying to Congress and refusing to testify to the House. William Barr has undermined the entire legal system he is tasked with upholding. It's time for him to go."
