Finally, A Real "Welcome Home" For Vietnam Veterans

May 13, 2004
Press Release
Whittier - Working to celebrate and support our veterans, Congresswoman Linda Sánchez (CA-39) is working to pass legislation she introduced to establish the first national “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day” (H. Res. 485). Many of our troops returned home from Vietnam, after dedicated service to our country, only to find that they were despised and belittled by much of the American public. This small gesture of proclamation hopefully will go a long way towards healing the wounds still suffered by so many Vietnam veterans.

Join Congresswoman Sánchez at a special ceremony to kick off Whittier veteran Jose Ramos’ approximately 4,000 mile bike trip to Washington DC. There he will deliver letters of support for “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day” to the White House.

At the ceremony, Sánchez will also provide an update on her bill.

The event is open to all members of the community, press, and photographers.

Date: Saturday May 15, 2004
