Sánchez Statement on COVID Relief and Omnibus Spending Agreement

December 21, 2020

WASHINGTON— Today, Congresswoman Linda T. Sánchez released the following statement after the introduction of the bipartisan, bicameral end-of-year legislation:

"While the agreement is not perfect, I'm pleased that the Congress will provide long-overdue relief to families and businesses in Southern California and around the country. This omnibus agreement includes: desperately needed cash for families struggling to make ends meet, enhanced unemployment insurance for those who need it, and support for businesses who are reeling amid a sinking economy. In addition, this bill provides resources for a nationwide COVID-19 vaccine rollout, a critical step in curtailing the crisis of the pandemic. The House took the lead in passing legislation earlier this year that was more helpful and robust but was ignored by the Senate. I'm committed to putting back those stronger provisions in legislation next year. In the weeks ahead, I will continue working to secure additional provisions that support frontline and essential employees, family caregivers, and working parents in my district."
