Rep. Sánchez Votes to Empower American Workers

February 6, 2020

Washington, DCU.S. Rep. Linda T. Sánchez (CA-38), co-founder of the Labor and Working Families Caucus, released the following statement on House passage of the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act. This meaningful legislation strengthens workers' ability to join a union and holds employers accountable for violating workers' rights.

"Too many Americans work hard day in and day out but feel like they still can't get ahead," said Congresswoman Sánchez. "After decades of anti-labor attacks, many workers still face retaliation when they try to organize for better wages, benefits, and working conditions. I've seen this in my own community. Workers try to form a union and a wealthy corporation responds by closing up shop with little to no consequences. Men and women are left with no job and a pile of mounting bills at home. The PRO Act is an important step towards improving the lives of working families across the country by acknowledging the dignity of their work."
